Four league wins, two defeats, zero draws. Six Super Lig games into the season, Beşiktaş have not shared the points once. Fourteen scored, seven conceded, twelve points, third in the table — and every single game decided one way or the other. There is no middle in this record so far, and it is hard to imagine this particular team inventing one. Then Europe arrives, and it does exactly the same thing: on the seventeenth of September, Marseille were beaten four-one at Vodafone Park.
That European night deserves a paragraph of its own. The match was played at Vodafone Park, Beşiktaş at home, and it finished four-one in the UEFA Europa League. Four goals against Marseille, one conceded, and three days later the league programme handed out the opposite. A season that has not drawn once now has a European win wedged between two bruising away days.
The last entry is the newest defeat and deserves describing properly. On the twentieth of September the match was played at the Diyarbakır Atatürk Stadyumu against Amed SK, and it finished three-two to the home side. The score in the file reads three-two and Beşiktaş were the away team, so that is a two-three defeat — the second of the season and, like the first, decided by a single goal.
